The Artist’s Road is Again Named a Top Blog for Writers

It’s not quite the same thing, but this blog is full of posts sharing insights from writing instructors in the Vermont College of Fine Arts MFA in Writing program.

Well, that didn’t take long!

Two weeks after reviving The Artist’s Road blog, it has been named to another top-blogs-for-writers list. This time the honor comes from The Independent Publishing Magazine. I’m included by Joe McLean in a Top-Nine list (who has time for ten?) alongside a number of really impressive blogs, most of which I have enjoyed reading for years.

A part of me feels like this is cheating–I mean, come on, I took three years off!–but the fact is that there are more than 400 live posts on this site, and most are still timely and full of wisdom. After all, I’ve hosted many inspiring guest bloggers, including another blogger on the Top-Nine list, K.M. Weiland (her guest posts are on properly structuring your beginnings and endings and dealing with your internal critic). And many of my posts imparted wisdom I learned from creatives I interviewed on a U.S. cross-country road trip or from instructors in my MFA in Writing program. So this latest recognition isn’t so much about the last two weeks, but rather a treasure trove of content dating back almost eight years.

No matter. For me, the best news about this shout-out is that it gave me an excuse to write a new post!

Hey, Patrick… it was just such a list by which I discovered your blog those many years ago. I’ve been dormant this past year, so now that you’re back in the game I can feel myself inspired to quit feeling sorry for myself and sharpen my blogswords once again.
