So that headline says it all, right? I’m very honored that the esteemed literary journal Hunger Mountain has published an excerpt of Committed: A Memoir of the Artist’s Road. Best of all, it’s free online, so click away!
The excerpt is one of several excellent creative works in a special “Mentors & Tormentors” issue. Those who have already read Committed will understand why Hunger Mountain has chosen to include an excerpt of the memoir. They have published the middle two chapters of Part Three, in which I travel through North and South Carolina with my then-fifteen-year-old daughter Marisa. A number of readers have told me their favorite chapter is the one immediately following that section, which takes place in Savannah, Georgia. Well, to read that chapter you’ll have to track down a copy of the book!
Those who have not read Committed but are curious can also read the opening of the book through Amazon’s preview feature. I’d note that you get a longer excerpt when you “look inside” the Kindle version; that gets you the entire introductory chapter and most of the next chapter.
I encourage you to read the Hunger Mountain excerpt–and of course the other great pieces there–and share the excerpt with others who might be interested. Thank you in advance!
