I sent around some tasty tweets this week sure to inspire and inform. Here are a few of them:
INSPIRATION
- “Pursue Your Passion,” Dan Perez, Dan Perez Films: All it takes is 4 minutes and 44 seconds to watch this video, and poet Kirk Nugent will have you on your feet vowing to pursue your passion. I like this line: “Greatness is born out of zero doubt.”
- “Saying It Out Loud,” Karen L. Hogan, Fear of Writing: This post will help and inspire any creative looking to put their work out into the world. Oh, and you get a peek at a steamy love affair the author had in Paris!
- “Dare To Be Different… Dare To Be You?” Kath Roberts, Alchemy 4 the Soul: This essay encourages the reader to embrace his or her own uniqueness. I like this line: “Push past those self limiting beliefs.”
- “Accentuate the Positive: Hope and the Inspiring Writer,” L.J. Cohen, Writer Unboxed: Lessons on remaining inspired. To quote the writer: “As a yet-to-be-published writer, I have learned the necessity of keeping hope alive.”
- “Revolutionary Finding — The Brain Can Change Itself,” Michael Apollo, Toronto Body Mind: So old dogs can now be taught new tricks. Very helpful for those focused on self-improvement, but I didn’t see anything in here about how to change the brain patterns of those who annoy me! π
CREATIVITY
- “What I Keep Learning from other Artists and Writers,” Ken, Mildly Creative: On the importance of persistence.
- “10 Reasons Play Can Make You Healthy, Happy and More Productive,” Nancy Shute, U.S. News & World Report: Bottom line, even grown-ups need to play to fire their imaginations.
- “Strategic Planning Doesn’t Have to Kill Creativity,” Mike Brown, Brainzooming: Ways not to sit in a conference room all day brainstorming on what song would be your company’s theme song. (Don’t say “Take This Job and Shove It”!)
WRITING
- “6 Things Readers Want from Your Author Website,” Thomas Umstattd, Author Tech Tips: One is pointing visitors to your competition (so to speak) by recommending books.
- “40 Great Ways to Promote Your Book,” Melissa, Write 2 Market: I’m not sure about No. 40, “Buy a few hundred copies of your book and leave them in public restrooms.” I think I’d prefer, say hotel lobbies or restaurant waiting areas. π
- “As I See It: Top 10 Reasons to Publish with a Small Press,” Karen Jones Gowen, Coming Down the Mountain: Bottom line for her? It’s about the connection and caring she experiences.
Stop back every Friday for the latest “Tweets of the Week,” or follow me on Twitter and dine on ’em when they’re fresh!
How cool is this! Thanks for featuring me! And I followed the link to discover your blog, which is awesome btw. Will add it to my sidebar, I want to be reminded to make art & creativity a part of each day.
